Vatsala is a DP & Director working in LA, Bay Area & Mumbai. She was one of the few female students accepted into the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India where she received her MFA Cinematography. She is directing "Home is Here" a film about the quirks of finding lasting friendships in San Francisco & the episodic documentary series "Creative Couples" exploring the journey of creative & entrepreneurial partners who make art together. She has shot several shorts and a doc feature film as the DP, many having been screened at juried international film festivals. She was a camera operator and 2nd unit cinematographer on many feature films. Her doc feature "The Train Leaves at Four" was selected to screen at the “India Story” section at the 17th MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. NFDC India recommended it in Film Bazaar's “Viewing Room List” in 2015. She is an active member of the Indian Women Cinematographer's Collective & has lectured as Adjunct Professor of Cinematography at SFSU.
