The Fetch

STORY

Water scarcity disproportionately impacts the lives of women and girls all around the world, resulting in lack of education, crushing poverty and vulnerability to physical and sexual assault. Writer / Director Cheryl Isaacson was inspired to write this short while researching the consequences of drought for another project. THE FETCH imagines an alternate / future, where these realities are lived out in a familiar but barren California.

The film is in production and will be submitted to festivals for a 2016 run. The story will also potentially be developed into a feature.

SHORT SYNOPSIS

In this Steinbeck-esque world of failed agriculture and toxic water, social structures are stressed, collapsed and broken. At the bottom, women and girls eke out an existence fetching and delivering water, while those (mostly men) at the top exert their power and satisfy their appetites with impunity.  Dale is a desperate mother whose determination to bring justice to a predator drives her to take an enormous risk.

CAST
Kathleen Wilhoite (Pay it Forward, Gilmore Girls), Daniel Hugh Kelly (Hardcastle and McCormick, Cujo), Blaine Saunders (The Taken), and Thash Mose
