TITLE OF PROJECT: 6 Short Films by 6 Female Directors of the Alliance of Women Directors

 

LOGLINE: Six female directors were selected out of a competitive pool to direct six short films inspired by true stories and be promoted by the “Shoot Em Up” initiative.

 

PROJECT SYNOPSIS: The six films in this “production anthology” are all true stories of women, adapted into screenplays by women, and will be directed by women. The films go into production in mid to late September & early October with a final deadline for completion on Friday, October 19, 2018.

 

MISSION OF PROJECT: The directors partaking in this project are all award-winning filmmakers working to emerge in the film and television industries. The project will support their promotion and professional success.

FILMMAKER BIOGRAPHIES:

 

Cate Carson Film title: “Mine”

Cate is a director, writer, producer, and actor who has worked in the industry since 2010 after a formative military and detective career. Her previous works include the Top-20 HBO Project Greenlight film "Whiskey Boys" and the Women-In-Film/Lionsgate short "Masque,” which earned her a Women In Film award at the 2015 Crystal and Lucy's. She’s currently a creator and director for PURE (The Series).

 

Tricia Lee Film title: “Astro-Quest”

Tricia has directed 3 award-winning feature films, 2 web series, and 7 shorts. ”Blood Hunters” sold to Hulu, was presented in Cannes by Frontieres, and had a North American day and date release. “Meeting Mommy” (starring Simu Liu from “Taken” and “Kim’s Convenience”) is a semi-finalist in the NBC Universal Short Film Festival and reached the top 28 on Youtube’s Trending List, garnering over 425,000 views.

 

SJ Main Muñoz Film title: “Don’t Say No”

SJ worked in production for 20 years before focusing on directing drama. Her award-winning work is supported by NALIP, WIF, Film Independent, and more. Her latest film “Requiescat” received the Clairmont Camera grant and won a “Call to Action Award” from RIIFF for its world premiere. SJ holds a BA from UCLA TFT, an MFA from Columbia University, and a PhD from EGS Switzerland.

 

Jenn Page Film title: “Family Dilemma”

Jenn has directed and produced multiple feature films, branded series, music videos, live stage shows, and a TV talk show. Although she’s directed in almost every genre, she’s most drawn to romantic dramedy and musical projects. Most recently, she completed “Playing with Beethoven,” a classical piano-based feature film that is currently in post-production.

 

Charissa Sanjarernsuithikul Film title: “LA Hustle”

Charissa is a television editor and director who has worked alongside powerhouse showrunners such as Greg Berlanti, Kevin Williamson, Shonda Rhimes, Allan Heinberg, and Aaron Sorkin, Her editing credits include “The Following,” “The Newsroom” and “Designated Survivor.” She recently directed “Playing It Straight,” a lighthearted dramedy short film, which screened at Cinequest 2018.

 

Foster Wilson Film title: “Mía”

Foster is an award-winning filmmaker, director and actor. Her films include “Waffles” (over 20 festivals and 3 awards), “Made Public” (2017 Emergence Award recipient) and “5 Stages of Grief” (2018 SHIFT Creative Fund Finalist). Foster was also hired to direct “Platypus,” “Love Scenes LLC” and the short series “Gross Anatomy.” She holds a BFA from NYU Tisch.
